User group labels are used for display purposes only. While a user group name is used for system identification. Tendenci uses the user group name to identify that a user group is in fact a specific user group.
The outcome of this fact is that sometimes user group names are not very attractive. They have funny characters inside of them or are too long or are too specific and don't really sound human. This is where user group labels come in.
User group labels are a way of humanizing your user group. User group labels (at the time of this writing) are being used in Custom Contact Forms. When a visitor fills out a custom contact form they are greeted by a check box and a label such as "Subscribe to our Newsletter" as opposed to "Newsletter Group." This is just one example.
As we move forward we will be substituting the user group name with the user group label as needed in order to create a more pleasant experience for visitors.
